We were lucky to catch up with Shalonda Wallace recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shalonda, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose. Shalonda Wallace is an international diplomat and change maker. Wallace is the founder of Wallace Media Group (WMG), headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, a renowned federal staffing and workforce development agency. As a child, she remembers her humble beginnings being comfortable in leadership roles, a skilled competent communicator, and the ability to be a stand out from the crowd with vibrant energy. During adolescence, there were many generational hindrances that tried to cripple her from achieving success, but brick by brick she dismantled all barriers that came her way. Wallace found her purpose as an entrepreneurial philanthropist, developing new ideas and concepts to solve social problems, improve communities and economic empowerment.
Wallace’s primary focus is to bridge the gap between skilled professionals and lucrative job opportunities in high demand industries like media, technology, and engineering. She takes pride in providing paid positions, accredited training and certification programs to empower career-driven individuals. As a mass media arts student earning her Bachelors degree at the illustrious Clark Atlanta University (CAU) and a study abroad student at Edge Hill University in the United Kingdom, Wallace earned an remarkable array of accolades and scholarship awards including The Links, Incorporated and United Negro College Fund (UNCF), a honorable member of the Isabella Honor’s Program, President of Clark Atlanta University’s Broadcast Club, executitve board member of Clark Atlanta Toastmaster’s International, served as Clark Atlanta University’s Global Leadership Ambassador, a devoted member of Atlanta Association of Black Journalist, Member, Boys and Girls Club mentor, Edge Hill University International Society, Member, Edge Hill University’s Vibe Media, member and featured in B.O.S.S Magazine Magazine. HBCU Edition Cover Vol.1 as a study abroad student.
Shalonda Wallace is notably considered a media mogul. Wallace served as a studio executive at Tyler Perry Studios. Throughout her career, she worked for many networks and local cable companies such as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX Network, FOX Sports, OWN, BET, VH1, MTV, TV ONE, REVOLT TV, BRAVO, Turner Broadcasting Systems, Georgia Public Broadcasting, Atlanta Voice, Facebook Watch and many more. Wallace dabbled in politics and became a communications editor for fellow Atlanta University Center sister Stacey Abrams, who would have become the first ever black woman governor in the U.S, had she won the election.
All in all, Shalonda Wallace has a rich background in many facets such as media, technology and engineering, non-profits, and community outreach. Above all, she never forgot where she started. She remembers the small still voice of God that whispered within her at an early age, Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
